We perform Maryland State Vehicle Safety Inspections for vehicle registration, Uber and Lyft vehicles, vehicle purchases and sales, and customers who want to make sure their vehicle is safe to operate.

What Is a Maryland State Safety Inspection?
A Maryland State Safety Inspection is a comprehensive safety related inspection required to be performed on all vehicles prior to them being registered in the State of Maryland. This inspection will deem them road worthy for the State of Maryland. It is required when moving in from another state, purchasing a used vehicle, purchasing a new out of state vehicle, transferring the title or ownership of a vehicle, or yearly for commercial use (such as Uber, Lyft, medical transportation, car rentals, etc.). This SAFETY inspection should not be confused with an EMISSIONS inspection. Emissions testing is only done at Maryland State VEIP Stations. We can assist in the REPAIRS of emissions related issues and help in obtaining a repair waiver, if applicable.

Along with performing the actual safety inspection, we also can fully repair and correct any issues that are identifed during the inspection process whether the initial inspection was performed at our facility or not. We can repair, verify, sign, and approve safety equipment repair orders when applicable. We can also measure window tint to verify if it is within the State of Maryland's specifications.

What Vehicles Can We Inspect?
We can inspect most passenger vehicles, electric vehicles, SUVs, vans, and light trucks, as well as some super-duty and heavy-duty trucks. We can also inspect trailers that are not equipped with an electronic braking system.

What Does the Maryland Inspection Check
A Maryland State Vehicle Safety Inspection checks the major safety systems and components of your vehicle to make sure they meet Maryland's minimum safety standards. The inspection includes but is not limited to the following: brakes, tires and wheels, steering and suspension, lights and signals, seat belts, windshield and wipers, mirrors, horn, exhaust system, fuel system, window tint and other critical safety components. The inspection also includes a road test and brake performance testing. Our licensed inspection mechanic performs the required checks according to Maryland's inspection standards and documents any items that need attention.

What Should I Bring to My Inspection?
We need the physical vehicle or trailer being inspected to be brought to the station. The vehicle should have an active insurance policy and active tags. We do not require the title or other registration documents. Those are for the MVA. We inspect the vehicle and update the records in the MVA system which will allow you to proceed with the registration process. We do not issue license plates or extensions for vehicle registrations.
